🌞According to Ayurveda, in summer, the hot, sizzling sun can make the temperature soar, causing adverse effects on the skin. No matter what your skin type, heat from sun can increase Pitta dosha & affect your skin.
Sunbathing is not very common in India. When i traveled to Europe in 2018, there was this heatwave that hit Spain &a few parts in Berlin. I am not at all a fan of the scorching sun. I used to slather suntan oil over my body to avoid pigmentation. But it didn't help. I came back home with uneven brown and white spots. It took me nearly two years to get rid of the spots😕
Excessive sun exposure can result in brown spots, burns, sensitive skin, & even skin cancer. Natural skincare is the essence of good skin! Ayurveda says the fire element governs the enzymatic changes of the skin. Typically, there is a natural balance in the skin which moisturizes and cools itself. But when UV rays overheat the skin, it destroys its own moisturizing functions.
So, here are some important points to keep the essence of your good skin:
1. Avoid spicy food: Limit salty food, Sour fruits, citrus fruits, beetroots, carrots, garlic, chili, etc. &increase salads as they are more cooling in nature
2. Avoid Ice-Cold Liquids: Cold water can hinder or put off the digestive fire causing indigestion &ama
3. Indulge in water-rich fruits like Watermelon, Pears, Apples, Plums, Berries, and Prunes
4. Regular coconut oil body massage before taking a bath feels excellent on the skin
5. Exfoliate:Use natural exfoliators like gram flour, oats, coffee, flax seeds, sugar, apple cider vinegar, alcohol, preservatives, etc
6. Toner: After exfoliating the skin, toner is essential to keep your skin hydrated. Rosewater is the best natural toner.
7. Stay Hydrated: make it a point to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day to stay hydrated.
8. Cool Your Emotions: Heated emotions can also heat the skin because when people get angry, their faces turn red.
9. Protect your eyes: Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes. Regularly splash cold water to your eyes or rosewater padding on the eyes
